Paon Bali Cooking Class

Very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable staff. Visiting the market is an interesting way to start the day - local style. The class itself is fun and efficient, and the food is great!

This class was the highlight of my Bali trip so far. We did the afternoon class and it really exceeded any expectations we had. We got to learn about the buildings and the importance of their position on the property. We were greeted with delicious welcome drinks and then taken into the kitchen where we learnt to make the most delicious dishes. Afterwards we all sat down to dinner together and chatted about our travels so far in Bali! Highly recommend this class!

My sister and I have had the best time with this cooking class! Puspa has been the loveliest person and she taught us such amazing recipes and cooking skills. Same goes for Maria! Would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in cooking!

Including a trip to a market to understand local fruits, vegetables and spices, this has been one of the highlights of my return visit to Ubud. Super friendly and talented hosts and staff with impeccable cleanliness and consideration for their guests. It’s hands on and a smorgasbord of food that encompasses all that Bali has to offer. Very highly recommended

A must in anyone’s trip to Bali. One of the best way to experience the Balinese culture and its delicious food. Wonderful experience. Fun and very educational and tasty. We can wait to go back home to cook ourself what we learned today. Thanks for the wonderful experience

Awesome class, so well designed and set up! You can just show up and they have everything ready to go and even greet you with refreshments. We learned a lot and made friends with everyone. Mama Puspa is HILARIOUS and a great teacher. Food was incredible. Cannot recommend highly enough!

I booked this class after reading many positive reviews online, and it exceeded my expectations. Ibu Puspa and her team put together a delicious, meticulously planned menu and made it so easy to learn and to enjoy yourself while doing so. I am writing this after recreating the menu back home and am thrilled with the results. Thank you Puspa and team! Hope to be back soon

I can't recommend this experience enough. We got to Puspa's beautiful home we had a look around and saw her family temple and the beautiful statues.

We then went into the open kitchen and Puspa introduced herself and was hilarious. She gave really clear instructions and was super knowledgeable with all the dishes and ingredients. It was the perfect amount of hands on, she showed us what to do and then we had a go. We were very lucky that no one else had booked on so me and my partner had a private class.

The food was all top notch and delicious and we had a great dinner and a lovely overall experience. 10/10 would recommend this class as we had such a great time!

The pick up/drop off service is very helpful. Fairly punctual and nice clean car. Market tour was small traditional fruit and veggie market. Quite quick. Wayan is knowledgeable. Explanation of home and family traditions very interesting. I agree with some other reviews that it’s not a comprehensive cooking class due to pre preparations and large group size. If you want that perhaps find somewhere else. Contributing to the cooking was fun. The end meal was delicious and plentiful. I would pay $35 for the lunch alone, so great value. It was a brilliant experience for me and my family. Thank you to the team at Paon Bali. A great morning!

One of our highlights in Ubud!

Here’s what to expect:
- a tour around the market that lets you sample different fruits of Indonesia and also see how the Balinese prepare their offerings
- a house tour of the important aspects of a typical Balinese house
- a very funny and informative instruction by Auntie Puspa on the preparation of the dishes (and they’re not difficult!)
- hands on experience of the cooking processes
- a nice feast with tea and coffee provided

Her house itself is a beautiful example of traditionalism with its own temples and shrines
Puspa is very passionate about cooking and being a chef myself I recognize the same spark and energy that drive me in my culinary discoveries
She was very knowledgeable, professional and happy to accommodate my request for plant based only class
The format is very well thought out and delivers the right mixture of fun, teaching, practicum culminating with the final delicious tasting of all your creations
Yes! In only one session you will literally learn several traditional dishes and get to savor them
The whole team is attentive and supportive, the space is airy, bright and super clean
I left with the feeling I made a new friend and will look forward to be back soon for some more advanced and in depth yummy explorations
