Besakih Temple

Interesting temple complex with a number of different temples. Unfortunately because of its size and popularity it's become a bit of a tourist trap with a large multistorey carpark out front and a huge number of touristy souvenir shops on the way out.

A beautiful temple to visit, with amazing views, provided that the day you come visit is not foggy. It's a bit of a luck of the draw with the guides, but we got one that spoke English properly and he was very knowledgeable, plus a great photographer, even offered to take our phone and film through the places you cannot enter if you didn't come with the sole purpose of praying.

The temples are very beautiful, we’re not going to lie. But the visit is really expeditious. I think if your guide is good, the experience can be great. But for my part, my guide completed the visit in about fifteen minutes and made me understand that I could not return to see the temples on my own without a guide. In addition, they ask for tips at the end even though the price of the guide is supposed to be included in the ticket (90k). In short, I think it's better to form your own opinion and luckily come across a good guide.

It costs 90K per person and visitors cannot enter the temples with the nicest views. Also in the ticket counter it says that the guide is included, but our guide asked for tips. This would have been ok with us if he hadn’t demanded 50k or more.and claimed that they don’t get any of the ticket money.

Worst Bali experience of all!
Unfortunately, we were ripped off at the parking lot by a lady who claimed we had to wear a hat and scarves (not a sarong) because there was a ceremony taking place. This cost us Rp 100,000, but at the temple we realized that this was not necessary. The temple is also far too touristy and overcrowded. At every corner there is a guide or salesman trying to get your money.
We visited about 6 others before this temple, they were all 10 times better and also more beautiful. It's better to visit the small temples, especially the Gunung Kawi Sebatu!

The price includes entrance, guide and transport to the top. After entering you reach a temple dedicated to tourists and they ask you to donate money on an offering. After you put the money on the offering, he tells you that you must put the same amount of money on his offering, then he insists on giving more, much more. At the end of the tour they ask for a tip and insist on giving more.

Be ready to see one of the most beautiful sights Bali has to offer - and pay for just about everything

Entrance fee is 90k per person and it includes admission, a sarong, tour guide, and shuttle up to the temple (which is about 700m from the parking lot). The signs at the entrance say that you don’t need an offering to enter the temple, but when your shuttle arrives, you’ll be swarmed by locals telling you otherwise and selling you them for an additional 50k.

Tour guides expect to be tipped well. I came in a group of 3 and tipped 100k for all of us and he asked if that was all. This was my first experience in 6 months of living in Bali where I truly felt like I was being taken advantage of.

Overall, Besakih is still a must-see for its rich history and natural beauty, but the way it has been commercialized definitely draws away from the overall experience.

While you’re there, make sure to get some cool reflection photos at the gates with one of the local photographers!

I didn’t liked it because it’s a tourist trap. You pay at the entrance a fee of 90000 which is supposed to include a guide and transportation to the top of the hill. The guide will then ask you to make donations for the temple and tell you to give more because it’s not enough, compared with what others do. At the end he asks for tip and say to you again to give more. I was so frustrated at the end and left with not such great vibe. I don’t recommend anyone to go.

Tidak recomen bawa tamu kesini, banyak skali pungli.smoga pemerintah bali segera menindak tegas kalau bisa di tutup untuk pariwisata biarkan pura nya berfusi untuk tempat upacra agama saja

Besakih temple is the largest Hindu temple complex in bali. I love this place?
An inscription says Besakih Temple was built in 1284 by Rsi Markandeya and his followers. But there are also some of the historians who believe that the forerunner of the Besakih Temple had been built since 163 AD, long before Borobudur and Prambanan Temples were founded by the Hindu Mataram Kingdom.

The ticket price is 30,000 Rupiah for local tourists and 60,000 Rupiah for foreign tourists.but this is only a tour around the temple, no entry to the temple. Only those who will pray can enter the temple

February 2022: Entrance fee 60 000, parking for free. BUT. Be very aware of the sellers, the parking is full of them, they are literally forcing you to buy stuff, they don't care if you say no. I had to be quite mean to them so that they understood.
Once inside a guy approached me saying I can't be walking around on my own and he would accompany me. No idea if he was lying or not. I'm quite sure I have seen other tourists wandering around without any local. At the end I gave him small financial reward (even though I dodnt want his company at al), instead of thank you he asked if that was all I would give him.
Beautiful temple but the tourists get very harassed, I don't recommend going there.

Pura suci Terbesar umat hindu di bali.semoga setelah perbaikan lahan parkir. Tempat nya luas dan nyaman.

Beautiful temple that's destroyed by local scammers. Aggressive liars that tell you to buy their stuff (sarong, incense, etc.), since they claim it's mandatory. I walked away, since I didn't trust them, but they kept hassling me that it was mandatory to buy a sarong and that otherwise I would not be able to enter the temple. One of the ladies even became physical, so I had to push her away. I asked many times if I could simple rent the sarong (which I usually do at other temples), but that wasn't possible. Luckily I negotiated their 300k to 75k, but on arrival at the temple I found out the sarong is even included in the ticketprice at the temple. When I came back to the parking spot they all pretended nothing happened and that it wasn't possible to get a refund. As a revenge, I took 2 bottles of water and some crisps and other snacks from the main lady without paying and she didn't even care, which clearly shows that they are scamming tourists and they know that bad karma will come for them.

Tolong ditindak ibu ibu yang pas kita sampe udah di tungguin di luar mobil pas keluar di todong suruh beli/sewa kain, udah nolak maksa tiba tiba langsung pakaikan kain dan kasih sesajen bunga2 suruh beli!

Worth 1 time visit. Banyak bayar ini itu hehe tapi kalau belum pernah sama sekali tetep saya rekomendasikan ke Pura terbesar di Bali ini.
