BlackLava Hostel

The Black Lava Hostel is a bit difficult to reach via a rocky and steep little road. The view of the lake is very beautiful. The hostel has two smaller pools with also great views of the lake and the mountains behind it. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The rooms are functionally furnished, but not overly clean. There is high humidity in the bathroom without adequate ventilation. That's why it smelled a bit unpleasant at times. There were tons of flies in the rooms, by the pool and in the dining area, which became very annoying over time. The hostel is a very good starting point for the tour to Mount Batur. You don't need to stay there for longer than two days as there is actually nothing else you could do there. Price performance ratio is good.

We stayed there for one night including the Batur trekking tour and were completely satisfied.
The tour starts directly at the hostel and is really highly recommended!
The two hot pools are really a highlight and invite you to relax, especially after the hike!

A beautiful accommodation. The houses are traditional and of high quality. Everything outside is also very nicely designed.you have a great view of the lake.the hot spring pools are fantastic. When we arrived, we asked for a guide to hike up Mount Batur at sunrise and we were given one immediately and easily.the food is very fresh and delicious. Always happy, unreservedly recommended.

This place made my stay second to none. Very nice interesting area, lots of greenery, fabulous view, two thermal pools, clean and comfortable bed, good food for a good price. For such a price, this is the best place thank you very much from Ukrainian

Yon is the owner and has managed to create a beautiful place!
His hostel offers a beautiful view, and 2 pools; each with natural hot spring water (40°C!). We stayed one night (2 adults and 3 kids) and hiked up to the Batur volcano. Yon arranged everything for us. All the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious.
Ideal for people seeking for calm and relaxation.

They have their own hot spring pools. 5/5 hostel. Only problem was the flies. I’ve never seen so many flies it was an actual issue you would be swarmed eating any meal before dark or even just sitting at the pool

The place got that amazing view with hot tub. The breakfast was good too the banana pancakes with fruits and coffee.
There was a problem the bed sheets wasn’t clean and the bathrooms of the shared was completely broken anyone passes by can see who inside other than that everything was good

Beautiful outdoor space with heated thermal pools. Free drinking water everywhere. Loved the outside vibe but our bed linens were dirty. Perfect for a traveler not looking for frills. Great mt batur hike start spot but not walkable to anything else.

VERY BAD Owner. Be very careful he tries to ROB customers! He stole 400k from us directly by charging us twice! And then told us it was our mistake and he wouldn't refund. Mafioso.

My friends and I stayed here for one night, because we wanted to do the Mount Batur sunrise hike. The service was very nice. The food was decent. And the location and the view were excellent.

We stayed in one of their tents which was comfy and clean. The hot spring pool is the highlight. Breakfast is minimal. Staff are kind and helpful, but can be a bit arrogant when annoyed.

Yon est l'hôte parfait pour vous aider et organiser vos déplacements. Le sérieux d'un haut de gamme avec le charme d'un l'hostel! A recommander les yeux fermés.

Good place if you want to climb mount batur. But beware: Well off the beaten track, it’s not easy to find. They also have a hot bath outside which is nice. Not bad for 1 night.

Perfect place to stay if you want to do the Mt Batur trek. We checked in the day before our trek. The family room was located on the far end of the property with beautiful views and quiet setting. It was spacious, clean and the beds were comfortable. They had a nice cabinet for our belongings. We loved how we can open all the doors and windows to enjoy the view of the lake and Mt Abang. The room comes with hairdryer, TV, fan, your own 5 gallon drinking water with dispenser, soap & shampoo. My son enjoyed the hammock and there was plenty of relaxation space on our front deck. My favorite was the natural hot springs. I soaked the night before our climb and immediately after the climb while waiting for some food to be prepared. Gede and Yoga were very helpful with checkin and arranging the best trek guide - Pak Made. I have been wanting to do this trek for a long time since I moved to Bali and I picked the perfect place to stay with the perfect guide. The guide met me at 3: 30 at the Black Lava, prepared a cup of hot chocolate and some pastries. We left at 4: 00 AM straight from Black Lava for our climb.
