Agung Rai Museum of Art

Beautiful gallery in a beautiful setting, lovely way to spend a couple of tranquil hours away from the busy road! The art covers a wide variety of subjects and styles, so something for everyone!

As others note, it didn't look like there was any proper storage of the art not on display - paintings were just stacked against a wall, under the stairs! Hopefully they will invest in some proper storage, as it would be a shame for the paintings to get damaged/degraded, especially given the heat!

Didn't try any of the cafes, so can't comment on them, but they look looked nice enough!

Overall, would thoroughly recommend a visit here, and am much more likely to go back here than, say, the monkey forest!

Spent a good part of the day at this lovely museum. Not only did we enjoy the collection but the gardens are beautiful to wander around and we quite enjoyed having a leisurely drink in their cafe. A very nice day.

The perfect place to discover the balinese art! And the gardens around are gorgeous! A coffee or tea is included in the price.

There are many galleries and museum in Ubud, so it is fun. I went to four museums, of which Agung Lai Museum was the best. You can see both traditional and modern art. In particular, the spacious garden made it fun to take a walk, and you can meet an artist who is absorbed in painting. And the ticket includes a Welcome drink, so you can have a cup of tea after watching. If I recommend only one museum in Ubud, I recommend this place.

Good survey of Balinese art, I guess, although there is a substantial emphasis on modern, and in my view, lesser artworks. Lovely grounds are worth a potter around afterwards.

Siapa yang tidak kenal dengan Museum ini? Sangat terkenal di Bali, nusantara, benua asia, bahkan dunia. Salah satu museum yg mendapat penghargaan. Jangan lupa tiket masuknya.

Lokasi mudah sekali ditemukan. Ada dipinggir jalan along way to monkey forest.
Sekitar museum banyak hotel dan tempat makan.
Dekat pom bensin juga dipojokan.

Admission was $100k IDR, included a complimentary drink at their cafe. Beautiful grounds and a small rice field behind the museum. No photos of the artwork allowed.

Their concept of a hollistic cultural experience is outstanding. Aside from a few really unique art pieces, the whole setting is a gem: the nature, architecture, cafe, restaurant, even resort! One of the great examples that a fusion can be more than the sum of its parts. Plan up to a half-day for this place.

Agung Rai Museum of Art is the place to go in Ubud when you are an art lover. Have at least 3 hours of time, we spent 4 just seeing the different museums (paintings by Balinese, traditional and modern + contemporary) and would need another 2 hours to explore the resort and area. A great place to calm down from the lively streets of Ubud, absolute recommendation.

Small but superb collection! I have been there several times and rarely see crowds.plenty of time to view and study the collection.

Absolutely gorgeous grounds. Such a relaxing atmosphere, too. The building with traditional art should be your focus. Beautiful paintings, prompting some self-learning on the stories behind them.

I like Balinese arts, I am a long-term traveller in Bali, visited to quite a number of museums & art galleries in Bali, here I think is the best. Wide ranges of traditional Balinese paintings & sculptures available here, after museum, walk farther to the back, there is a huge Balinese style garden with river & a rice field, wow, I can spend a whole day here. Ticket includes coffee break & delicious rice cakes, worth the visit!)

Beautiful park, museum, wellnes and restaurant all in one place close to the centre of Ubud. I spend the better part of a whole day there had lunch, massage visited 2 musea and finally had dinner and witnessed an experimental jazz band. A very relaxing day and amazing experience. I really enjoyed the paintings in the museum.

I do admire the effort of the owner who try to keep the culture of Ubud, by restoring all of those painting.

You really will be amazed with collections they have. From classic to modern.

The area surrounded by a very calm and peaceful landscape which really well design. You would in love in sec since u arrived.

Good place to visit if you are in Ubud, nice collection of local art. Entrance is IDR50.000 (free drink included)
