Sorido Bay Resort

An amazing experience end to end. The staff at the resort is so welcoming and caters to each guest individually. The diving and snorkelling in Raja Ampat definitely lives up to its reputation and it should really be on every diver's short list.
There are many places to stay there and we stayed in 3 different places, but Sorido was a step ahead of everyone else in terms of their sustainable approach to tourism, the quality of their dive centre and the quality of the accommodation and food.
We have been travelling for 5 months and our kids are still talking about their experience there almost every day. The discussions with the founder Max had a profound impact on the way they see our eco system and the dive master Chris made sure everyone has an amazing dive/snorkel experience based on their level.

We stayed at Sorido for 4 nights and I did my AOW there! It was an amazing experience. The bungalows stayed in have comfortable beds and waterfront porches. The food was awesome - buffet style but they changed menu everyday. Special thanks to chris, my diving instructor, for looking after me so well. I fell in love with diving again and I can’t wait to go back in the near future.

I returned for the 2nd consecutive year to Sorido after also trying another resort in Raja Ampat. Feeling at home with extraordinary local people who put passion and love into sharing the most beautiful dive sites in the world with a small number of people (there are only 7 bungalows).
However, I have to say that there is a negative point in diving with Papua Diving in Raja Ampat:
You will never found, all over the world, other diving destination that could be compared with those of Raja Ampat.
I write this review after having dived, only in Indonesia, in the following areas:
Bangka, Bunaken, Komodo, Alor and Wakatobi.
No dives will ever be compared to what you will find with Papua Diving around Kri Island!

Satu minggu di Kri Eco Resort dan satu minggu di Sorido Bay Resort. Bagi saya itu hanya terasa seperti…. Pulang.

Kedua resor menyelam Papua sangat baik, makanannya juga luar biasa, dan semua pilihan menyelam sangat baik.

Mereka juga memiliki banyak pilihan rekreasi selain menyelam.

Juga terima kasih kepada semua anggota staf yang membuat masa inap tak terlupakan.

Jadi… jangan ragu dan pesan saja, Anda tidak akan menyesal, dan… Anda juga dapat kembali ke surga terakhir di bumi.

A truly unique resort on a remote island in the North-West of Papua, Sorido Bay Resort exceeded our expectations and made this holiday a one-of-a-kind experience. The team, the crew, the rooms, the food, the atmosphere, the organization - all aspects reflected a very sincere passion to share the beauty of the island and of its corals in a respectful and sustainable way. We stayed a week around Easter 2023, one of us diving multiple times a day and the other snorkeling, and we could not have imagined a better place from which to appreciate this corner of the world. Highly, highly recommended!

Just spent 10 days at Sorido Bay and was very impressed with the resort, how it is run and (most of all) the diving!

This was my 12th trip to Raja Ampat, but all the previous ones were on liveaboards as I was convinced that was the best way to experience the wondeful biodiversity of the Dampier Strait.

But. I was wrong as land based from a resort is a great option. The point though is which resort as not all are created equal and Sorido Bay is really exceptional.

Small, but big enough.excellent rooms, great food, very well run and simply incredible diving.

I never give reviews, but an exception must be made here. Greet and thank again the entire Sorido Bay Resort team. A dedicated and professional team, which remains relaxed. Special mention for the exceptional cuisine. No need to go over the fantastic place and the dives. But express my gratitude for the assistance that the entire team gave us in a difficult personal moment. Day, night, in the rain, on land or at sea, you can count on this extraordinary team, they spare no effort! Congratulations, with all my appreciation and gratitude.

First class resort! All inclusive including free laundry. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and management team! We came as a guest and left as a family. Truly felt welcomed and cared for throughout our stay. Chris and team were very organized in our daily activities and making sure we get the best enjoyment of the surrounding waters. One of our best resort experiences and I would highly recommend as the place to stay in RA.

This organization sets the standard for dive resorts in this area. They are partners in many conservation projects world wide and Max is an incredible supporter of environmental causes. They have highly skilled staff both in the dive program and otherwise. Can’t say enough about these folks!

We stayed at Sorido Bay as a family of 5 and we had the time of our life. Max, Chris, Jade, and the incredible staff at Sorido were very engaged, friendly, knew everything about the island/fish/reefs, they anticipated all needs, and are just very good people to be around. There is incredible snorkeling/scuba right off their dock and unlimited places to see via boat. They really cater to the guests with fruit smoothies after dives, afternoon appetizers, and just do a lot to make the stay special. Our accommodations were excellent and we looked forward to the food and the community of people eating together at every meal. Kri Island is a special place, and I really appreciate the number of local staff that are featured in their resort. The resort is delightfully small and a guest quickly gets to know other guests at meals or on dives. I observed during my stay that other guests were 2nd time guests, others were 4th time guests, and one woman was a new guest but she was rebooking for next year. While we were there a number of conservation efforts were going on in the area that the staff was directly or indirectly involved in. Papua Diving gets a lot of things right for the guests, for the local people, and the environment.

So good in Service & Facilities that my diving family visited it again for the 3rd time in 4 years. Friendly staff and an owner cofounder who is a dive resorts pioneer icon in Conservations who will join guests in their meals. Kudos to the Resort Managers

Great place, will visit again.

Pros:
* Remote
* Few people (I believe 18 Guests)
* Varied food choices (Fish/ (ChickenBeef) /Vegetarian)
* Great reefs in easy boat range (<30 minutes)
* Three guided boat dives a day + a guided night/blackwater dive on request
* Nitrox available
* Ratio guests to dive guide is great (3: 1)
* AC Rooms
* Internet (WiFi and cell signal)
* Nurse and medication for common problems (e.g. Ear infections) in the resort
* Western style en suite bathrooms
* Friendly staff and management
* All rooms have direct beach access

Cons (keeping in mind that this is a remote place, more of a setting expectations) :
* Showers/sinks run on collected rain water
* Internet connection is not that stable and slow

Love this place. Second visit this year. Superb diving, friendly staff, and a well run dive operation with great dive guides who know what they’re looking for.

This is a 5 star resort and you get the full 5 stars. We had a weeks diving there as well as some side trips for bird watching and scenic photo shoots. Raja Ampat is a pain to get too so pay the extra and enjoy every minute when you get there, we did and have no regrets thanks to the great team at Sorido Bay. Worth noting that if you are diving this resort is equipped to help you quickly, the other sites simply do not have the infrastructure and the diving can be challenging with the strong currents. Big tick is the fact that Sorido Bay has sustainable eco tourism at the heart of everything it does. If you are going to Raja to see pristine coral and marine life you are actually funding eco projects by staying at Sorido Bay. They don't advertise it or do a big PR campaign, it is just what they do. We feel that we may have helped in a small way to help preserve the future of this amazing area.

Spectacular diving, first class accommodation with hot shower, excellent food and interesting people concerned with nature conservation.

I think this is the best luxury dive resort in Raja Ampat. The owner is so kind, staffs are helpful and always smile. The lagoon in front of the resort is the most richest underwater biodiversity in the world! Dont forget to do kayaking or paddle boarding to the sand bank!
