Scuba Republic Beach Bungalows Raja Ampat

Loved my time at the bungalows. I was a solo traveler so I only had an option to stay at the bungalows, no safari sadly. But I was able to go out on the dive boats with a volunteer program that stays there and was welcomed to socialize as well. I did 6 dives at 6 different spots and they were all incredible. The gear from the shop was all like-new and I had no issues. My guide was knowledgeable and helped me out when the current got the best of me (btw the current is quite strong in some of these spots so take extra weight!). The food at the bungalow village was fantastic and served on time every day. The room were clean with a/c and the bathroom were excellent. My guide also took me to the nearby village to meet some local people, explore, and snorkel. This is the perfect spot for those who like a little adventure and appreciate a good hammock to read in.

For sure, the diving in the damper strait is just breathtaking, everyone knows that. But what made this trip even more special: Rolly and the crew! He knows everything about the dive sites, we were always well prepared before the dives (magical), just professional and funny at the same time. Divemaster Eric did an amazing job with us, too! The boat crew is so lovely, helpful and always in a good mood. Besides diving, we had such a good time on the boat and during the land activities.
For sure, the cabins are not "luxury", but there are even aircons and beds where I fitted in (193cm), what to you need more for sleeping? The upper deck is so spacious and comfy, coffee, tea, cookies, water 24/7. And finally just unbelievable tasty food everyday!
One of the best weeks on my life!

The best experience you could imagine! The whole package of the Epica (6N7D Raja Ampat, best of Dampier) is just epic. Incredible, stunning, overwhelming and beautiful dive sites, where you can’t get enough of - they leave you speechless and close to tears! Really professional diveguides (Erik and Rolly) with the best vibes and perfect guiding and support. It will be hard for me to dive with any other guides now, as they were just the best. We got delicious food, with a lot of variety and they were even taking care of allergies and stuff. The crew on the boat is super friendly, warm, welcoming, supporting and professional. Thank you guys for this time- it will be in my heart forever and I will come back for sure. Miss Epica already.

We actually made it - a lifelong dream of Andy and later also of Hanna - a diving safari in the last paradise on earth - Raja Ampat!
Where do we start? Words cannot describe how incredibly speechless and overwhelmed we are by our time on the deck of the Epica. This post is intended to show our impressions outside the water.
On October 17th we climbed our floating hostel - our boat, the Epica, very excitedly! We could never have imagined what a heartwarming vibe from the crew and our dive guides awaited us. Rolly and Erik, our guides, took us by the hand for 7 days and 6 nights and showed us probably the most beautiful place in the world, the upper and underwater world of Raja Ampat. Our chef spoiled us with the best Indonesian food, the surfing figure is now well hidden under some bioprene, and the entire crew of the Epica looked after us extremely professionally in all things relating to the boat, diving and the excursions on land. What a gigantic vibe we had together with all the other guests.
We are so grateful to have been able to experience all of this and leave this archipelago with a heavy heart and still not satisfied with all the nature, the colors and the beauty of Raja Ampat.

This is not a goodbye, just a “until we meet again! ”

Spent a week on the liveaboard; the crew and especially Rolly went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable. Truly amazing experience couldn’t recommend it more

Do NOT take the liveaboard, Epica, run by this shop. I was scheduled to leave on a week long trip with them on October 12. The boat was unusable; they had taken it out of storage the day we arrived and there was no working shower, one toilet for 14 ppl, and it was filthy. It was in no shape to sail and they could not get permission from the harbormaster to leave port, obviously. Five of us were promised refunds, which we are still waiting on. Book elsewhere.

We just came back from a week Liveaboard trip on the Epica in Raja Ampat. It was in one word: EPIC! Yes, there were issues last month with the boat but they were open and honest about it and even better; they have fixed it.

The boat is basic but it has everything you need, do not expect any luxury but what can you expect for this budget?

The team we had made the trip amazing; our cook Andy made delicious fresh food 4 times per day (3 meals and a snack) and we could not have wished for better dive guides than Yos, Rollie, Fred and Sayril. Safety and professionalism always came first. The rest of the crew were so nice and helpful up to the very end.

You guys gave us the trip in Raja Ampat we dreamed about.

Super easy pick up from the ferry, direct to the hotel, great food, great staff, really nice pier, very basic accommodations but perfect. They were not able to arrange for pianmo.

Went with a different local company total rip off. By the way, it is off-season for a reason. The ocean was insane to try to get there in this boat.

We absolutely loved it! The bungalow is very clean and pretty basic but what else do you need when you are in Raja Ampat! Every single staff we came across were super friendly and accommodating. House reef was superb! Couldn't ask for a better holiday experience!

Totally chilled, lovely and fun vibe. Humble accommodation which perfectly fits the needs of low key professional divers. Incredible instructors and world class marine life. Even snorkeling from the beach on our doorstep was the best snorkeling I've ever seen from a shore. STUNNING!
The good is yummy and plentiful.
I really look forward to returning here again one day soon and would happily recommend thus place to friends. Such a good find!

If you're looking for a luxurious stay, that's not your place. Everything is rustic and built in local style. Electricity available during certain times only. Omnipresent, constant humidity (hence the mouldy smell). Nothing really dries here.
Limited food options, including fruits, due to the remote location. However the staff just learnt about the existence of vegans and have started adding vegan options to the menu.
From the alcohols there's only beer available (one of the very few places on the island you can buy booze). No night clubs, massages or other services offered. Very poor internet connection (if any). Just eat, sleep, dive, repeat.
All the above allows you to detach and enjoy the beautiful house reef and surrounding jungle. Stunning beach with incredible sunrises and sunsets.
Amazing albeit challenging diving (very strong and quickly changing currents), the best I've experienced so far. Everything is bigger (except for trigger fish. Those are tiny here: D)
The diveguides are amazing and very experienced. They appreciate nature, take care of the reefs and the environment. Can't comment on the rented gear as came over with my own, but there have been no complains from other guests.
Day trip jungle seeing options available, ot you can explore the island on your own.
In short - if you want to escape your busy life, loud and drunk crowds and see crystal clear waters and amazing marine life - this is your place.

Place is cute. Price and amenity-wise, sits between home stays and resorts. Reviews regarding smell in room are true, although it was not the end of the world for me.

Very beautiful pier and reasonable location. Not as idyllic as Kri, but with more amenities such as running water. Food was OK.

Staff was really nice and very friendly. Divemasters were great.

One thing to be aware of if you are there for the diving: they have one dive boat and it is a relatively large place. The chance that there will be an inexperienced diver, a student or somebody doing a “check dive” is quite high, meaning that you may miss the more challenging sites. For example, I did four diving days (7 dives) and did not get to go to any of Mikes Point, Manta reef, Sardine Reef, Blue Magic etc.

Friendly, helpful staff and great food, but the moldy room stench unsuccessfully covered up with cheap air refresher is a monumental minus. The combination with symbolical moskito nets impossible to close fully is particularly bad as you'll have to sleep with door and windows open if you want to avoid choking on your own vomit during the night.

Maybe I was just unlucky and it's only this one bungalow, but at double the price of local homestays, I find this condition unacceptable.

Horrible. Equipment not maintained. My son was hospitalized for decompression sickness due in part to a faulty regulator. Dive guide was unimpressive- touched and stood on the coral reef! Accommodations basic, no electricity during the day, food lousy and not sufficient for number of guests. Very poor service overall. Find somewhere else.
