The Open House Bali

The Open House was a lovely and relaxing place to spend my last two days in Bali. The hotel's design and decor are a perfect blend of new and mid-century modern, with a touch of old Havana (could not stop obsessing over the tile flooring). The staff was very welcoming, with a map of the area and a list of recommendations; the food in the restaurant was delicious, and they even offered to cook for you any seafood that you purchased at the nearby fish market. And proximity to the airport was a definite bonus - highly recommend this hotel, especially for the beginning or end of your trip.

At first we thought that the hotel was not bad, but after three days. Guys, bad. That's really bad. And precisely because of the attitude.

1. The water in the pool is just trash, the child who usually dived immediately stopped because there is more chemicals in the pool than water. My jewelry (sorry, not cheap) oxidized in one bath and I'm not very sure that I can restore it. A family nearby said their child's hair turned green after swimming in the pool. Why poison your guests there?
2. I have a 2-year-old child and if anyone else has ever had 2-year-old children, they know that they can cry, loudly, for any reason and this is not the most pleasant sound in the world and I, as a parent, don’t like it either and I try my best to minimize these hysterics. But why did the hotel staff decide that it was, in principle, possible to reprimand me that my child was crying loudly and “ask” me to shut him up because they have a spa nearby and his screams are preventing elderly ladies from getting their massages. The fact that you have a 2x2 hotel and you have a “spa” two steps away from the COMMON pool is only your problem. You are not an adults only hotel to reprimand me about my child. This is the first time I encounter such an attitude. I’m sure that if there was a group of people drinking loudly or just adults hanging out in the pool, no one would even approach them. For they would be sent in the right direction.
3. Oh yes, massage is done by girls who also clean the hotel and it’s hard to call it a massage. Should you wash your feet before a massage? Did not hear. Massage your face after massaging your feet without washing your hands? Easily. Apparently we haven’t heard about hygiene.
4. My child interferes with someone's rest. But calling at 9 pm when the child is sleeping (and many children are sleeping at this time) and waking him up to ask when we are leaving tomorrow is ok.
5. Just as smoking in the common area and at breakfasts is considered normal for staff, these elderly ladies do not bother anyone and apparently do not spoil anyone’s health if they are allowed to do so and no comments are made.
6. I don’t even want to write about the room, it’s just a room, no better or worse than others, but we were told that before our arrival the ceiling in our room was collapsing. Chic shine beauty. The shower and toilet are mini and you can break your head because the floor is tiles and afterwards it is wet, it is not safe.
7. There is zero privacy on the 1st floor. You must always keep the curtains closed otherwise you are always on view.
8. There is basically no Wi-Fi in the room, it barely works only in the cafe. Why write that it exists if it does not exist?

The good thing is that the breakfast is good and in general the guys in the cafe cook well. Near the ocean.

Upd. After the hotel owner's response.
Apparently they have no idea who is staying with them and how. We were my family, my husband and I and my child, which friends of mine you are talking about is not at all clear. If I talk to someone, it doesn’t mean that these people are my friends, and how this relates to aggressive chemistry in the pool is unclear.
They didn’t offer us any replacement rooms, and we didn’t ask, what’s the point if everything is the same everywhere.
And once again, no one has the right to reprimand parents for crying their child.
In general, with any negative reviews about the hotel, the owner responds in the comments that you are fools yourself. So everything is clear.

Overall, I am a bit disappointed by the 4 star graded hotel which I feel the hotel did not match the standard compared to other hotels I have stayed in Bali.
Based on the positive comments, I believe I am not the targeted client for the hotel as I prefer more modern and recent facilities rather than a more « eco-friendly hotels »

Few details bothered me during the stay for a 4 star hotel: the plant at the entrance which I would recommend to tie or cut to avoid customers having to push it every time, changing the massage bed curtains as there are a lot of stains, the pool has a very strong chlorine chemical smell, the room AC is very loud.

One thing I must highlight is how friendly and welcoming is the staff which I would say counterbalance everything.
Location is front beach which is good just the surrounding is a big smelly but not link to the hotel.

Super clean and beautifully presented rooms.friendly service and good cuisine. There is a lot of attention to detail in the hotel, which is particularly evident in the green area.

Our stay at Open House last month was perfect. The location, the pool, the wonderful staff and steps from the beach where you can eat seafood and watch the sunset. We especially loved that this is not a party place with loud guests and noisy atmosphere - it was perfect to relax and eat delicious food and swim in the gorgeous pool and ocean. Ayu the manager is a force of nature and fantastic at her job. The massage staff were fantastic also and the restaurant staff were amazing and food was great. We will be back as soon as we can! Thank you!

100m from the, very close to the airport. Perfect location for acclimatizing upon arrival or last stopover before returning. Very good quality cuisine next to a charming swimming pool.

We only stopped by for breakfast twice, very calm. A couple of cute little Honey bees trying to steal back their honey. Food was cheap and delicious we had the American Breakfast, which included toast with jam, honey, butter.fruit, eggs mushroom, bacon, spinach, potato tomatoes. All very nice. It also comes with both juice AND coffee

If you don't like bees, Hide the honey.

Overall breakfast was lovely.

If you want a quiet hotel with a good location and value, this is the place. There were however some points of concern:
- DO NOT GET A MASSAGE HERE. My wife and I has a massage there and unbeknownst to us (eyes were covered) one of the curtains to block peoples; view of you was not closed. So, when we finished, we found a man with an ipad sitting where he could see my wife. It was quite unsettling. Overall the privacy is lacking, but even if it was not, the massage was decent at best, there are much better places close by.
- Wifi was down for three consecutive days due to the thunderstorm.
- Rooms are not cleaned thoroughly - we stayed there for 10 nights and were expecting our sheets changed.

The staff of hotel was perfect. The hotel has kitchen where you can have breakfest, lunch or dinner. One minus that I can distinguish that shower and toilet is literally in the bedroom, with glass wall only separating the areas. However, it was pleasure to stay there and can recommend this place.

Very nice place, tasty food, very clean and comfortable room. Nice SPA and massage center. The staff is attentive to make our stay perfect

Unfortunately the pool water was green and massage tables are loose, time to invest on new ones

What a lovely hotel! With lovely staff, lovely rooms, with a lovely pool and an unbeatable location in Jimbaran beach, Bali’s best sandy beach!
I stayed a couple of nights… oh that was short! I would have loved to stay longer. I experienced the beautiful ceremonies from the nearby temple, visited the local market, went to the beach, had dinner in their restaurant (yummy food and perfectly cooked pasta!). The staff always went out of their way to provide the best service, the GM is great, thanks for everything Ayu! I loved every bit of my stay! I even met the owner, great Spanish person! I will come back for sure!

We are pleased to announce that after a bit more than two years closed due to the pandemia, The Open House Bali is fully reopened to its former glory. We are delighted to welcome back our guests!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were always motivated to help us. The food was excellent, the kitchen staff prepared our meals at the exact time we needed to recharge before we headed to the beach or the pool. Owner was also very accommodating and like an energizer bunny - didnt stop maintaining and checking the facilities.:)

You can walk to the beach. Easy to get a cab as the reliable taxi service car pool is just 5 minutes away. 15 minutes from the airport. A lot of seafood restaurants along the beach to chose from also

Yesterday when I took my 2 French lady guests to this place to stay, it was my first encounter with this hotel. I often pass the road on its front on my way to go to seafood cafes nearby on the beach of Jimbaran and hardly know about this hotel.
If what I saw at glace on its properties which consist of simple painted in white 2 storried hotel building, a pool in front of it, an open restaurant and a little front desk office, it surpriced me to know if this is catagoried 4 star. Or I must have missed of seeing its other premisies if there are any, in the other areas. Oh, well. Excuse me. Then, who I am and what I know about hotel catagorization. As long as your guests enjoy their stay at the hotel who cares about star hotel.
I notice that the guests in the house are mostly of senior citizens in their own countries and spending their pensioned vacation in Bali. And from what I noticed, they speak in French mostly and that telling me that the clean, calm, peaceful of this place loved most by European travelers.
Near to it is a white sandy beach of Jimbaran, seafood cafes, near to airport, to Nusa Dua Beach Resort areas, to even Kuta only in 15 minutes drive by car makes its location rather strategic. If hotel can provide free shuttle to those places to its guests in the house that will make it perfect to its guests staying in the house.
Complaining about food on their earlier stayed hotel in the other place I hope my 2 lady guests enjoyed their stay on this hotel and have a good European food to eat. And good seafood restaurants to come to and enjoy nearby on the beach if they don't feel like having them in the hotel. Hopefully.

Super schönes, geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Hotel. Alles blitzsauber. Grosse Zimmer, sehr bequemes Bett. Tolle Terrasse mit Poolblick. Pool perfekt zum Verweilen. Frühstück und Kaffee sehr lecker. Personal TOP! Sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Umgebung ist sehr ruhig. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Für einige Tage Entspannung absolut empfehlenswert. Es gibt auch Massage- und Yogaangebote.

Location ist eigentlich perfekt, da nur 1min zu Fuss zum Strand - der Strand ist aber voll mit (Plastik-) Müll und stinkt, was sehr schade ist - dafür kann das Hotel aber nichts!

A great find in Jimbaran! First time here but will most def make a return visit. A small boutique hotel with great restaurant friendly and attentive staff. Great value in a great location 50 metres from Jimbaran Beach. Amazing dining experience at Cuca just along the beach or stroll along the shore to a collection of local warungs for sunset tipple.

Das Hotel ist klein und man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und schön und das Essen war auch sehr gut. Das Hotel hat uns auch einen Ausflug organisiert. Es war ein toller Aufenthalt im Open House und wir empfehlen das Hotel auf jeden Fall weiter!

An amazing Hotel with everything you'd want from a large hotel but packaged into the perfect sized environment

Lovely and personalized, this boutique hotel is well locates with very polite and accommodating staff. Enjoyed my stay here and will be going back.

It's a good boutique hotel just near the Jimbaran beach! Rooms are spacious and they are eco-friendly.:)
