The Fire Flies Garden

We loved the experience!
But let’s start from the beginning:
It was a bit hard to find for our driver, but we were guided. The garden is very hidden in the back behind buildings. So watch the signs if you go on your own!
We were promptly greeted by a very nice lady why asked us for the contribution to enter the garden, before we were guided through a gate into the garden. It’s very well maintained and has some very nice features and interesting animals to discover (the latter depends on luck though, so to not wake false promises I leave it to you to see what or who you will meet).
We arrived at 18: 30 to see a bit of the garden, then we were served tee/coffee and waited for the beautiful sunset (see picture). It took another 15-30 minutes before we saw the first fireflies. Each 15 minutes or so it became more. The lady who showed us around and served tea explained to us that the many flies are there as there are no pesticides being used. A safe space was also built next to the field where you can see them in a protected environment. This evening, it was blinking and glowing for us everywhere.
We left happy having seen so many fireflies and definitely recommend going!

Nice garden. Lots of fireflies come out at ~7pm. It was amazing experience, but quite expensive.

It's hard to find, but I liked it because it reminded me of my childhood. The coffee and fries were also delicious.
However, the Americans who came later kept turning on their flashlights to shine on people around them and making noise, so we had to leave early. The manager had no sanctions against this and had to feel uncomfortable for a long time. The guide must have sanctions or prior notice regarding such people.

Lohnt sich! Wunderschöne Anlage, herzliches Personal und sehr leckeres Essen! Übernachtung ganz einfach dazu gebucht, sauber und gemütlich. Schön mitten im ruhigen Regenwald aufzuwachen:)

Such a nice place but not so much to know, the nature is still clean there is no population at night so many fireflies an extraordinary experience.

Tempatnya sangat sejuk adem jauh dari pulosi, patesan banyak kunang kunang, restorannya sederhana tapi makanannya sangat enak, dan ubi goreng yang krispi, pokonya mantap.

Viewnya bagus, ada banyak kunang-kunang yang dikembang biakan disana. Nice place and worth to visit.

It was a cool experience but a little bit disappointing as you can just See a lot of fire flies in an enclosed space.

Unfortunately the fields are not that many.

We booked to go here through our Airbnb host in Taro village. The lovely Adi came to our Airbnb and escorted us to the firefly garden at arpund 5.30pm. The place is beautifully maintained and has plenty of gorgeous photo spots for you to use during daylight hours. After night is when the real magic happens. They have a number of fireflies in captivity in an enclosed sanctuary as well as wild ones that dance across the rice fields. They all start lighting up around 7-8pm. It was one of the most beautiful natural sights that we have ever seen! Very moving. Adi explained everything very patiently and slowly and was an excellent guide. There is a lovely veranda overlooking the rice fields for you to wait for the fireflies where you will get a complimentary drink and snack with the entrance price of 100k idr. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for something unique and unforgettable!

My kids say, "It was a wonderful place, you have to go there". This was SUCH an incredible experience. I have NEVER seen SO many fireflies in my life. It was beautiful to see them in the rice fields. Definitely one of our best new years' eves memories in our lives. The gardens are beautiful. I can't believe not more people know about this. It is great for the whole family. Our kids LOVED it. It is a hidden gem, and the staff are SUPER friendly. I wish I had better words to paint this beautiful place in the rightful words it deserves. You just have to go there.

Love this place, really beautiful place where the paddy field is free from pesticides. Fresh air and delicious organic food. And thank you for Mr. Komang for his work to preserve fireflies. Now my kiddo can see a real fireflies in their natural habitat. Sadly, nowaday it's hard to find fireflies cause their habitat has to free from chemical environment

The place is huge with a small restaurant inside. The place overall was well maintained. The owner and his family are also very friendly and welcoming. The food is affordable and delicious. It was classic indonesian-balinese food, not the usual boring westerner food. The main attraction, which is the fire flies, are also well maintained and very pretty.

Very recommended place in Ubud, far from the busy street also.

Nice place with the view of rice field, forest, valleys, and this place has such a great fire flies that are difficult to find in the world. Come and see if you would like to know.
