At the beginning of my Bali trip I stayed in the SurfWG for a week. I really enjoyed my time there.
The entire staff was very nice and the surf guides put in a lot of effort during the twice-daily surf trips. The rooms were also cleaned every day.

As a solo traveler, the SurfWG is the ideal way to start your trip.

Ideal for learning to surf and meeting new people. Mainly German speaking people. Great pool. The price includes a water bottle, a T-shirt, breakfast and a great welcome drink on the first day. Very friendly surf instructors, you can also spend time with them outside of the lessons.

Were super happy with the camp. The bed linen was made up every day, at least in our twin rooms.
The on-site staff and especially ALL the guides are super friendly and always in a good mood.
The surf lessons are a lot of fun and you get the basics really well.
Price performance is also really great. Would recommend the Surfwg to everyone.

A great place to stay if you want to learn surfing from ground up. Teachers are very helpful and can tell you how to improve on yourself. Staff in the camp is also very friendly and the food is affordable and good. The only things that are a little bit annoying are the distance to the main surfing spot (Kuta) and the generous amount of cameras watching every part of the camp (feels like you are constantly watched).

The time in the SurfWG was really great. The two of us rented a room here for 5 nights at the start of our trip to Bali and found it incredibly beautiful. On the one hand, the entire staff is very friendly and seems to make sure you are well 24/7. The food is good and the price is also quite good. On the other hand, the other people also made the camp what it was. You quickly felt at home and made cool new friends.
As far as surfing is concerned: I have never surfed before and after the close Woxhe I was able to catch a wave of 2m. That means you also get a good education.
Lastly, I would like to mention that it is really practical to do the whole thing at the beginning because you get a lot of good tips and experiences from others.

We stayed at the surf camp for ten days and had a great time. My boyfriend and I already knew how to surf and stayed at Ein Stern Surfguiding. That was great for us, because before that we were a lot in the white water with soft boards and in the camp with hard boards in the green waves. The surf instructors gave a lot of support and sometimes pushed us into the waves. My brother did the beginner course and learned to surf quickly. I sometimes think it's too early for the beginners to join Ein Stern Surfguiding after the course. Above all, the conditions were pretty tough for us in the afternoon, which is why we sat out a couple of times. In the camp there is a restaurant that prepares delicious food. The staff there is super friendly and helpful and frequently provided us with plates and knives for fruit. You could borrow a scooter for free and you will be picked up at the airport/port/hotel and taken away again.

We had an amazing experience at Surf WG! The rooms are clean and wonderful roomservice! The whole team is very helpful and super kind and will assist you with any requests!

Absolutely amazing camp to learn to surf!

I had a super good time there, because the staff, the guides and the other guests harmonized perfectly and made the stay a pleasant experience. There were absolute summer camp vibes:)

Unfortunately, I wasn't that talented when it came to surfing - but the guides didn't stress me out, were always in a good mood and gave me enough time to learn. Just a dream! Especially Gusti, Adi, Budi, Harry and André tried really hard and tried to correct the mistakes and motivate me to keep trying. (I've heard other things from other camps, in case it doesn't work out that way) As for that, they definitely take away your fears and make you just try it - and that's really worth a lot! What was definitely good is that they adjusted surf times to the tides. In the beginning we stood on the beach and couldn't surf because there was a fixed schedule that wasn't in.was in tune with the tide - that was really stupid. It would also be cool if there were day trips during the week as well as at the weekend, so you definitely get more of the good waves in the morning and don't have to stop immediately when things are going well. Personally, I would have wished for a little more theory and dry runs at the beginning, for example with a balance board or similar - but I've already said that I wasn't that talented when it came to surfing. It worked so well for the others - and we always had the opportunity to practice with a board in the pool.

The entire camp staff is super nice, friendly and always tries to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Both Ami, Nadja, Lisa or Ayu, Nunu and Aling are the heart and soul of the camp. (Not to forget the great kitchen staff, whose name I unfortunately do not know! ;)

You feel welcome and in good hands as soon as you step in. In addition, you were always greeted with a smile. The fact that you could borrow scooters for free rounded off the offer perfectly.

A special highlight are the evenings together, e.g. The BBQ on Fridays, where the guides like to get out the guitar and we sing together - or the sunsets on the roof terrace.

It's a pity that you don't eat together when you spend most of the day together anyway. In addition, all community areas are video-monitored, which on the one hand provides some security but also somehow has the opposite effect. Sometimes less is more!

We slept in the lumbung and were very comfortable in it - the bed was made and the bathroom cleaned daily - we really had nothing to complain about other than the leaking plumbing in the bathroom once the air conditioning in one of the lumbungs was on. That would have to be repaired - but that's done quickly.

Definitely an absolute recommendation from me:)

We LOVED this place! We stayed for four nights and did their beginner surf course. Every single instructor and staff member were so warm and fun and the overall energy of this place was incredible. They are all great teachers and we felt really well looked after in the hotel and in the waves. We will likely be back

It’s a nice camp if you’re a beginner and like to party, but I wouldn’t recommend this camp for intermediates. I learned to surf here a couple of years ago and it was great, also since the vibe of the camp is fun and the staff is super kind! So I came back, but was unfortunately quite disappointed.

There’s one star and two star session, where one star is for the people that just finished the beginner course and two star for everyone else. There should definitely be more differentiated levels and also a bit more spots on offer for two stars. Also, they have a fixed schedule of going out at 7am (weekdays) or 9am (weekends) every day, which doesn’t always fit the conditions. It would be so much better to have a flexible schedule and go out according to conditions (e.g. Tide, wind, etc.).

The surf guiding is barely existent, there’s no spot introduction, warm up, or feedback in any way. If you go out with the two star group, most of the time the guides just surf themselves and would often even take the waves the guests are just paddling for. Even if you ask for guiding or help with choosing waves, they would perhaps halfheartedly help you. And if you go out to the reefs with the boat, it allegedly costs 100k IDR per person, even if you’re 6 people. So in total, we paid 600k IDR for a less than 5min boat ride, which I find outrageous! If you hire the boat directly, you usually pay something between 50-70k IDR, so what kind of deal does the camp have?

The rooms are ok, but could use a bit of love. If you want to go to bed early, avoid the Lumbungs or main building, as it’s usually quite loud in the evenings. The restaurant serves good, cheap food and the beers.

So if you’re an intermediate, it’s much better value for money to hire a private surf guide or choose a different camp. If you’re a beginner, go for it, you’re gonna have a great time!

I would highly recommend staying here. First, they are incredibly responsive and helpful when you are trying to actually arrange a room or figure out the basics of surfing lessons! That follows through into a wonderful experience where you are given excellent instruction (practically one-on-one) at surfing and live in a peaceful and happy environment. It’s great value for money, and everyone who is staying there is visibly having a great time.

Absolut fantastisches Camp! Preise fair, nicht ganz Zentral in Canggu. Ich persönlich fand es gut, da man sich ohne weiteres schnell einen Scooter ausleihen kann in der Unterkunft, oder einfach einen Grab holen.
Die Freundlichkeit des Personals übertrifft alles.
Ganz tolle Menschen dort die viel Herzblut in ihren Job stecken.
Ich werde wieder kommen.

Spent a month here upon my arrival to Bali. Dorms were so lovely, clean and bright. Food was lovely. Surf coaching was amazing, discovered so many different spots around the island in my month there & plenty of boards to chose from depending on your level. Will definitely return here if I am even in Bali again. Really reasonable price for breakfast, accommodation & surfing. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Canggu area.

A wonderful atmosphere in the Camp, friendly staff, helpful Surf-teaching in the beginner class, great food. So worthing to come back one time.

Very nice place to stay, we payed around 300-400 euros for a 4 Day stay with everything for two people. Met alot of new people and my girlfriend Got much better at surfing at the 3 Day beginner course (she had 1 instructor only for her) and I got some good waves, so it’s also good if you are a intermediate surfer and just wanna have someone to show you the spots and learn you new things

5 out of 5 stars, if we should say something bad the place had like 80% Germans and they tend to speak in there native language, but alot of them were very sweet, just come with an open heart.

If you are scared of lizards and insects, bring an insect spray. We wished we had one? Because one lizard entered our room.
