Sun Island Hotel & Spa Legian

Hotel yang strategis di pinggir jalan Legian, bersih dah terawat. Hanya kamar mandi nya tergenang dan sarapan nya kurang variatif.

I would say the hotel was a 0/5 if I could. Had definitely the worst breakfast I have ever had in Bali, room was dirty and loud, the pool bar was shut down and it looked like ghosts were running it (it was all broken and completely run down) it was such a disappointment and honestly off putting. The elevator was also not working so would have to carry all my bags up on my own as no one offered to help. Would definitely never recommend and would tell people not to waste their money here

Horrible experience. I had a big shopping bag with all my souvenirs in it. I left the hotel for the day and came back to my room to find that my shopping bag was missing. I thought that room cleaners might have mistakenly put it in the trash, since they were the only ones that came in the room. When I asked the front desk about it, instead of being open to finding what happened to my bag, they became very defensive. They kept saying that they did not throw it away. I asked to check the cameras, no cooperating. I was so desperate to get my souvenirs I even asked if I could see the trash from that day. The lady at the front told me to go meet the security at the basement, what do I see when I go downstairs, rats! At that point, I gave up. I asked if I could get a refund or some type of compensation, they said there’s nothing they could do for me. Keep in mind I have been travelling for a week in different airbnbs and hotels with the same shopping bag in my room, nothing ever happened until this time. I am very disappointed by the service, they didn’t even try to make it up to me. I spent a whole day buying stuff for my loved ones and now its no where to be found.

This hotel is in the midst of all things buzzing, great restaurants. The location is great. Hotel is okay. Situated near a 24 hr restaurant Mama mia so that’s a plus. Rooms are good. Housekeeping was lovely. Rest of the staff was okay. Breakfast was BAD!

Excellent behavior from the staff
The lighting is poor in the lobby and in the rooms as well
The breakfast is Indonesian and there are not many options for foreigners
The road to the hotel is very busy

Recommendations for those of you who want to get the best experience for your trip, especially when traveling to Bali

My best friend of 20 years and I recently went on our first ever girls trip (we are now both 40) and booked our first 3 nights at Sun Island Hotel and Spa Legian. Upon arrival we were both delighted with the architecture and presentation of the hotel, both clean and modern, yet still authentically Bali and traditional.

Check in was a breeze, and every staff member we encountered was not only friendly and helpful, but genuinely cheerful. It says a lot about a place when ALL the staff are that happy all the time! Particular mention goes to the Restaurant manager who welcomed us warmly by name every morning with the most beautiful smile and upmost of care.

We stayed on the ground floor in a twin share room, which was spotlessly clean, with fantastic aircon. It had a small balcony big enough for one person to stand on to vape, and the absence of any cigarette smoke on the premises was a DELIGHT.

The pool areas (there are 2) are truly spectacular! We stayed away from the rooftop as we are both sun sensitive and it is better suited to sun worshipers working on their tan. The 4th floor pool bar suited us perfectly, with plenty of shaded areas for relaxing on sun lounges. Yes, the decking is in need of maintenance, but from what I understand works are set to replace the decking starting June. I can't wait to return to see the upgrade. Although the pool bars were not permanently staffed throughout our stay, a quick call using the bar phone, had whatever we required delivered quickly to us with no issue at all. It was actually such a luxury to have that pool area to ourselves most of the time. The view from the 4th floor Infinity pool is pretty special, and I thoroughly enjoyed living my best mermaid life splashing about.

Breakfast every morning was basic, but delicious, consisting of fresh cooked eggs to order, alongside a buffet of noodles, rice, fruit and pastries. Food service was consistently great every morning.

At the end of our 3 night stay we were both so sad to leave as the location of the hotel is absolutely PERFECT. Close enough to be walking distance to all the action and nightlife, we felt completely safe at all times, yet far enough away to be silent of a night time when we needed to sleep (in super comfy beds mind you).

After a hiccup at our next hotel within a couple of hours of arriving, that we both couldn't look past, we made the decision to check out and return to Sun Island. To our delight, not only were we welcomed back with literal open arms, we were offered the same rate we had been paying (was an early bird rate when we booked and this was now a weekend) but put straight back into our freshly cleaned original room. Above and beyond doesn't even come close to the service we received. A small issue with the aircon was attended to as soon as we made mention of it and the remainder of our stay just felt like home.

We both can't WAIT to return to Sun Island Legian on our next Bali adventure!

The hotel was clean and staff was great and accommodating, even letting us check in an hour early. However, there was no Wi-Fi signal in the room, except the bathroom. Both the pool bar and the rooftop lounge had no staff so no way to order drinks, which is the main reason I wanted to book here. Finally, the included breakfast only offered rice, noodles, fruit, and toast, no actual breakfast aside from eggs. Also, they did not have enough international adapters for everyone so I had to buy one. Overall, I was upset at the pictures online vs what was actually available.

Surprisingly very high class for its price. The rooms are excellent and their service is great. The staff are very friendly. Water dispensers are free to use in the hallways. The entire place looks a little bit too dim, and the restaurant in front looks gloomy. Rooftop bar and pool is still closed when we visited. I'd still recommend this hotel because it's a bang for buck.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Incredible service, staff came to the door to greet us before walking us to the reception. Had welcome drinks and were able to store our luggage as our rooms we not yet ready.

Water is hot! Bed is HUGE and rooms are clean. The pool on the 3rd floor is pretty so it was quite nice for us to have it to ourselves.

Also very close to local shops, cafes and restuarants as well as Kuta beach.

Rekomendasi hotel yang oke untuk wilayah Legian dan sekitarnya. Lokasi strategis dekat pantai Kuta dan banyak toko souvenir sepanjang jalan. Staf ramah dan hotel bersih. Ada kolam renang di lantai 3, Pool tidak terlalu luas tapi cukup untuk sekedar menghilamgkan pemat. Thumbs up pokoknha untu Sun Island Hotel!

Super clean hotel and rooms. Huge pool and love staff. Rooms are a bit small with king size beds. 16 rooms have balconies on upper levels also pool side rooms on ground floor. More wha I would call a transit hotel. Restaurant and bar.

Bagus sih tapi kayak bukan bintang 4 hehe, tempatnya sangat strategis dan dekat dengan apapun yang ada di Kuta

Checked in here as flights were changed and we weren't able to stay in our villa past checkout due to being booked. Cheap enough to store bags and have a shower before our late flight. Run down, elevator not working. Just happy we didn't stay here for the length of our stay. Many better options

I stayed here with a friend in late July. We got a room each. We were excited for the rooftop pool, the pool bar and nice cocktails at the hotel bar!
Little did we know until we got there… the rooftop pool is closed down (and full of green water and mould), the pool bar at at the middle (and only, now) pool is shut down, and the main bar downstairs serves barely anything… a restricted list of a handful of drinks.

It was a shame really, our key requirement when booking was a poolbar, and at no point we’re we advised it was closed - it was just when we went to the pool that we saw it all closed down and empty. The pool that is open is run down with rotting wood decks and the odd missing tile. The pool towels were hidden away and in a plastic wrapping as a new pack still which we helped ourselves and ripped open to access the towel inside. This really, was indicative of the service overall at this hotel.

Towels in the rooms are old and worn.

The lift is broken down and no one was working on repairing it for the entire stay.

I stayed at 3 x hotels during this trip - Sun Island Legian was by far the biggest let down. The other two were fantastic.

I wouldn’t stay here again until they’ve invested some money into the place, lifted the standards, open the roof top pool, open the pool bar.

Value for money the room is lovely and so is the infinity pool with lovely street views. We enjoyed our time in the central location. Worth it!

Kami sekeluarga ber 10 menginap di disini kamis-ahad (16-19 Juni 2022), kamar bersih luas tempat tidur besar TV LED AC dingin, tersedia kopi teh gula n pemanas, ada hairdryer jg, kamar mandi air panas dingin, tersedia anduk sabun sampo sikat gigi pasta, secara umum bagus mengesankan dg low budget, lokasi strategis Deket Indomaret tempat makan jalur rame, cuman sayang lift dlm perbaikan waktu itu, jd naek turun tangga, lain waktu ke Bali lg, nginap sini lg ahhhh

BEEING CALLED BY THE FRONT DESK AT 12AM IN THE MID DURING MY SLEEP ONLY TO ASK HOW MANY PEOPLE IN ROOM. NO BODY HELP ON MY TRUNK. SUCKS SERVICES! NOT RECOMMENDED.

Was there in Feb 2017 with friends. Excellent service, friendly and helpful staffs, love the welcome drink, nice rooftop pool with a bar, definitely would come again.
