Last year we contacted Balimoves Property for help finding a suitable Villa in Sanur to lease. We were lucky enough to have the help of Dewayu. This review covers the wonderful service provided by BaliMoves representative Dewayu Arpina Dewi. I retired from work early 2020 and asked BaliMoves to find us a villa in Sanur to rent for 12 months. My wife Liz and I travelled from Australia and met Dewayu in Sanur, who showed us several properties in our price range. The properties she selected were carefully chosen to show us a range of possibilities - from near the beach to the other side of the Bypass road. Modern and traditional. She was patient and allowed us all the time we needed to select the right property. We chose a beautiful traditional Balinese villa in Jl Batur Sari and returned to Australia to pack and get ready for our year in Sanur. Dewayu prepared the paperwork professionally, and responded to our enquiries promptly. Documentation was in English as well as Bahasa Indonesia.

When we arrived in Sanur, she met us at our hotel and drove us around the neighbourhood and showed us the best places to shop, eat, etc. Dewayu answered our endless questions and provided the right advice. She ensured that we were ready to be part of the community right from the start of our trip. Our initial worries evaporated on our first day. Her spoken and written English language skills are excellent. Even more importantly, her customer service skills are outstanding.

Within weeks of arriving in Bali, I had an accident requiring hospitalisation. Dewayu was wonderful in providing help and support. This went well beyond simply being our BaliMoves representative. Without her help at that time, it would have been a difficult few weeks. Dewayu even arranged for a local Hindu priest to conduct a cleansing ceremony at the villa after my accident. She assisted the priest during the ceremony and ensured all the appropriate offerings were there. She arranged traditional dress for us, and translated as needed. Strangely (or perhaps not so strangely) I felt much better after the ceremony. I recovered and all was well - then the Covid-19 pandemic arrived and we decided to shut the villa and take a month or two back in Australia until life got back to normal. We caught the last Virgin Australia flight out of Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar and went straight into a two week mandatory quarantine stay in a Brisbane hotel. Well, you probably know how this part of the story ends. Australia shut its international borders and international travel essentially shut down. Covid-19 did not blow over in a month or two, and we were not able to return to our villa in Sanur. Now back to Dewayu.

As we were unable to return, we decided to sublet the villa if possible to reduce our expenses. Within days of my request, Dewayu negotiated with the villa owner (thank you Pak Patra) and found a tenant to rent our villa. She was able to do this even though there were many vacant villas in Bali, and much unemployment and hardship and few tourists. She kept us up to date and ensured all bills were paid and that we received our rent regularly while the villa was sublet. I initially thought that we might just have been lucky to find a tenant for our villa, but now that we know Dewayu well, it was not luck. She is one of the hardest working people I know, and she cares about her clients.

Well our 12 month lease ended a few days ago. We still had some of our luggage in the villa. On my request Dewayu arranged for our personal effects to be safely stored and ready for our return to Bali. We will come back as soon as travel to Bali from Australia is possible. My guess is that is likely before the end of 2021, after many of us are vaccinated and the infection rate reduces substantially. When we do, we will contact Dewayu and restart our adventure in Sanur. How could we talk to any other company but BaliMoves, and how could we use anyone else but Dewayu? There is no one better in real estate in Sanur. Well done and thank you. We will see you again before too long.
