Ayumar Homestay Medewi

My advice is check if it meets your needs before booking for longer than a couple of nights. The reviews are mostly false and don’t tell you anything about the place.
I booked long term because the owners assured me their place had good internet speed for online work and was quiet, with only some noise from the mosque, which, they said, could be compared to a church bell. In reality, prayers on loudspeakers go on for half an hour to an hour, starting at 4: 30am every day. WiFi speed is below 10mbs, mostly around 5mbs.
If you need to work, don’t plan on renting the bungalow. The bungalow is a sauna during the day no matter the AC. As the houses are a few meters apart with the common area in the middle, your work depends on what the other guests and the owners are doing.
For those who want to use the kitchen, be prepared for student flatshare standards plus cats and dogs walking all over the tables and counters.
I met guests who seemed okay with the place. Other guests, like me, wanted to move out but the owners refused to return their money.
The staff and guests were lovely so the vibe was good generally. But the place is not as described.

PS. After I left the review they threatened they’d report me to the immigration office for working illegally on Bali. That’s the spirit!

Staying at Ayumar was the best decision I could have made for my winter break. I was able to relax was I attend to do but still learn about the culture and food from ayu. Ayu took me and my friend to many trips like the waterfall or a river nearby. Ayu and Markus welcomed us with open arms and were always friendly and helpful when needed. I can’t wait to get back and spend some more time with them.:)

Calm place to relax. Clean room with AC. Very nice owners. Brand new scooter availible for rent (with a surf board hangers). Beautiful garden and cute pets. They can help to arrange a driver to get out of the village (you can get there by Grab/Gojek but hard to get out)

Great place. Room we stayed in was sober. But a good shower with good bed, sleeps well, very quiet place. A lot of dogs (they are friendly). Beautiful garden. The owners make the difference, they are nice and helpfull. You can rent a bike or scooter. I say book there! We felt very welcome.

I stayed at Ayumar for a month between June and July 2022. It's near Rasta Cafe and situated in a peaceful location- a few mins to the Medewi surf break but distant enough to be close to nature with a great peaceful vibe. Kitchen is complete with everything you need an more- from plates, utensils, cooking equipement, fridge etc. They also went beyond usual and offers oven, microwave, coffee maker, air fryer, and bread toaster that is available for all the guests to use. They also have a lot of fun stuff to do like billiards, darts, cards, and pool for some fun with other guests. We had family dinners with everyone which was an awesome way to socialize. Beers are also available in house! The owner Ayu is one special woman with the kindest heart- always willing to go beyond to help her guests. When I was sick, she gave me some meds and a coconut. She is the sweetest!

This little guesthouse is amazing! Its quiet situated in the middle of greenery with a beautiful garden. Ayumar is so lovely! Every time I come to Medewi, I stay there and can highly recommend it. See you next time:)

Such a lovely place, the hosts are super friendly and accommodating. The bungalows are perfect, nice bathroom with good water pressure and everything is of quality. The common area/kitchen is good for working on your laptop as well as hanging out or having meals. Overall, very nice stay and I will come back for sure!

The best bang for the buck! The owners were really nice and helpful. I had a great time staying for 4 nights. I know where to stay when I go to Medewi again:)

Tempat yang pas buat yang suka suasana sepi. Exterior dan interior rumah lumbungnya saya suka, unik. Ayu dan markus sebagai host juga ramah dan baik and pet lover. Beberapa kali diajak BBQ bersama teman-temannya mereka. Ada Panda dan Simba, dua anjing peliharaan dan beberapa kucing. Harapannya bidang pariwisata Indonesia kembali bangkit. Kembali stabil. Bisa lebih mudah pergi kemana-mana.

Ayumar homestay medewi, tempat yang sangat asri dan masih natural, dikelilingi pemandangan yang sangat fantastik, bersih dan jauh dari kebisingan, garden yang sangat luas dan hijau, Ownernya (ayu & markus) mereka sangat ramah dan bayak membantu, Mereka memiliki 2 puppy
(simba dan panda) dan memiliki 2 kucing yang sangat cantik, mereka semua sangat ramah, hanya 5menit kepantai point dengan motor, saya sangat merekomendasikan ayumar homestay, berharap akan bisa kembali segere dan menikmati pemandangan desa yang sangat natural.

A very beautiful and natural place, has a very beautiful view in the middle of rice fields, they have 2 dogs (simba & panda) and some cats and they are very friendly, there is a small shop that sells a lot of food we need, and the beach is not too far, only 5 minutes by motorbike, I will definitely come back soon to enjoy its beauty again, thank you very much to Ayu & Markus (owner) for helping us a lot

Ayumar is a perfect place for all your Medewi surf trips. Clean spacious house, cool loft bed, kitchen with all the amenities, and a nice garden to chill at. The area is nice and quiet, and just a short 5-min drive from the beach. Bonus points for cute puppies and a mini board rental. On top of that, it's more than affordable. I've stayed for the weekend and couldn't be happier.

Lovely, cozy and newly built houses at a great price in the middle of amazing nature and rice fields. Ayu and Markus are the perfect hosts, providing you with everything you need, showing you around, inviting you to try traditional cuisine and local ceremonies. Authentic Bali experience and a great surf spot close-by. We loved our stay and will definitely come back!

Affordable and beautiful homestay, friendly and local owner. Can show you around Medewi and the surf. Would recommend you stay here while in Medewi. Open kitchen and common space, nice for relaxing and close to the beach. Can rent you a scooter if you need while in town. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful time Medewi and we’re happy to have stayed in Ayumar Surf Cottage! It’s surrounded by nature and so the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Ayu and Markus were helpful with everything. The place is like a small paradise for travelers. Also for surfing it’s a great choice as medewi has some awesome waves!
